The 2023 San Francisco Artciál International Piano Competition welcomes all pianists in different ages globally!

Location: San Francisco Conservatory of Music & Online

The 2023 AIPC is thrilled to announce that we will have an online + In-Person competition this year from May to August. 

Applicants could choose either participate the competition in-person in different region, or could choose to participate online, which need to submit unedited recordings of their repertoire. 

The total prize for the 2023 competition will exceed $10000 USD!

OVERVIEW 

The goal of the competition is to bring together pianists of different cultures and ages, to explore and promote talented and promising musicians, and to provide them with opportunities for further development.

 

GENERAL 

The 2023 Artciál International Music Competition and Festival is thrilled to announce that it will take place from July 30-August 5, at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, CA, USA. 

All stages of the Competition will be open to the public.

First Round Location (May-June):

Region First Round Awards: 

First Prize Winners (95-100 points) from each category will be invited to participate in the Final Round of the Competition at the Caroline H. Concert Hall of San Francisco Conservatory of Music in August. 

 

Second Prize Winners (90-94 points) from each category will be invited to perform in the Competition Honor Concert at the Barbro Recital Hall of San Francisco Conservatory of Music in August. 

Application Deadline: April 30th, 2023 (11:59pm, PST)

FINAL Round: August, 2023 (in-person)

The competition is open to pianists of all nationalities.

Free choice of repertoire up to the time limit. Program from the first round may repeated in the final round.

IMPORTANT DATE 

  • Feb. 15, 2023 - Online application opens

  • April 30, 2023 - Deadline for IN-PERSON first round (region division)

  • April 30, 2023 - Deadline for ONLINE first round with video recordings submission (online division)

  • May-June, 2023 - First round starts (Please check the date of each region)

  • August 5, 2023 - Final round of the competition (San Francisco Conservatory of Music) 

  • August 6, 2023 – Winners Concert at San Francisco Conservatory of Music

REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS  & COMPETITION RULES

All works must be performed by memory.

The pieces may be performed with or without repeat, at the Competitor’s discretion. 

The deadline for FIRST round program changes is May 1st (Only accepted once). 

The deadline for FINAL round program changes is July 15th (Only accepted once). 

The decisions of the Competition Committee and the Competition jury are final in all matters.

RECORDING REQUIREMENTS (Online Division)

*Works may be recorded separately or in one take. 

*The total duration should not exceed the requirements.

*Video recordings should be of the highest possible quality to show your best artistry. 

*The performer’s hands, face, and feet must be visible during the recording. 

*Uploading methods are included: YouTube, Bilibili, or Youku.

ACCOMMODATION & PRACTICE 

All Participants are responsible for their own expenses (travel, housing accommodations, etc.)

Practice warm up room will be provided during the competition. 

GUIDELINE

Applicants must submit an online application form here. ​

Region Division 1st round – A nonrefundable application fee of $145 should be submitted in US dollars with the application April 30th, 2023.

Online Division 1st round – A nonrefundable $100 and the video recordings of the first round should be submitted in US dollars with the application by April 30, 2023. 

The video recordings should be of the highest possible quality to show the applicants’ best artistry. Only Solo repertoire will be accepted, no chamber or concerto performance will be accepted. 

 

HOW TO APPLY

  1. All candidates must submit an online application form here. (Application deadline is April 30, 2023)

  2. Read Official Regulations & Rules 

  3. Upload and provide recording videos on YouTube, Youku, and Bilibili

  4. Scan a proof of date of birth (copy of the first page of your passport/birth certificate or other government issued ID) and send it to info@artcialmusicfoundation.org

  5. Pay the application fee. (Non-refundable payments are accepted online through Paypal, Zelle, and Official Website.  

  6. Notification of acceptance or non-acceptance to the competition will be sent to applicants by email no later than June 15, 2023
