The 2023 San Francisco Artciál International Piano Competition welcomes all pianists in different ages globally!
Final Round Location: San Francisco Conservatory of Music & Online
The 2023 AIPC is thrilled to announce that we will have an online + In-Person competition this year from May to August.
Applicants could choose either participate the competition in-person in different region, or could choose to participate online, which need to submit unedited recordings of their repertoire.
The total prize for the 2023 competition will exceed $10000 US

Hailed for his “Apollonian virtuosity and sensitive tone,” multi-award winning pianist-composer Zhen Chen has performed as a soloist and chamber music artist at prominent music venues in USA, Europe and China, such as Stern Auditorium, Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall of Lincoln Center, Preston Bradley Hall of the Chicago Cultural Center, and China National Centre for Performing Arts. His live performances and recordings have been broadcasted by Chicago WFMT 98.7, Princeton WPRB 103.3, WCNY Classic FM, and China Central Television, among others.
Mr. Chen has worked with prominent violinists Maxim Vengerov, Cho-Liang Lin, and outstanding instrumentalists of the New York Philharmonic and the Orchestra of Metropolitan Opera in concert and recording engagements. His recording Brahms: The Complete Sonatas for Violin and Piano, in collaboration with Elmira Darvarova, former concertmaster of the Orchestra of Metropolitan Opera, has been recently released by German label Solo Musica and distributed by Sony Music and received plaudits from listeners and critics worldwide. Spain classical music magazine RITMO praised this recording as an “exceptional expressive flight to the height of classic interpretations of this [Brahms’] music.”

Richard Marshall
A graduate of the Moscow State Conservatory, Mark Pakman performed in New York major concert halls in recitals with various artists. His solo recitals and collaborations with other musicians have taken him throughout North America, Mexico, Europe and Russia. He was a featured artist at a Mostly Mozart Festival pre-concert, at the 8th Annual Cervantino Festival in Mexico, Musica Camerino Festival in Italy, Bedford Springs Festivals in Pennsylvania, South Hampton Chamber Music Festival, Amati Festival and Bard Festival in New York State. He also performed at the Moscow Conservatory Rachmaninov Hall and Sviatoslav Richter Museum.
Mark Pakman appeared on Russian and American radio and TV stations. He premiered compositions by Hayes Biggs, Alexander Zhurbin and Robert Aldridge and wrote program notes to accompany a number of CD releases for the “Russian Disc” and “Consonance” labels. As a Russian coach he worked with many singers including Samuel Ramey, Chester Ludgin, Jeffrey Gall and Beverly Morgan.
