San Francisco International Piano Competition

Official Regulations & Rules

1. The San Francisco International Piano Competition is open to pianists of all nationalities and all levels.

2. The 2024 San Francisco International Piano Competition will be held online and live for the 1st round. All the finalists must performed LIVE in San Francisco.

3. The application form must be submitted via our website with all required materials by May 15, 2024. Applications will be considered complete only until all documents and fees have been received by the competition. Application fees must be paid in full and are NON-REFUNDABLE. Submitting an incomplete application will be disqualified.

4. The results of the competition for all contestants will be posted online on the competition website and official social media.

5. All works must be performed by memory.

6. The same repertoire may be performed for both first and final rounds over the course of the competition.

7. The length of the program/video may not exceed the allotted time as stated in the repertoire requirements.

8. The Jury has the right to withhold awards if entrants fail to reach the required standards and are permitted to award the same numerical ranking to several contestants. In the event of a tie, the Jury may divide the monetary prize equally between the prizewinners.

9. The Jury will make decisions by an absolute majority of votes in open voting. Voting is valid if at least half the Jury members are present. In case of a split vote, the Jury Chair has the decisive voice.

10. The deliberations of the Jury are confidential and recorded until the conclusion of the competition.

11. The decisions of the Jury are FINAL and not subject to review or appeal.

12. Contacting Jury members before or during the competition is prohibited.

13. Current or private students of the judges MAY enter the competition. However, the specific jury member will not be a part of the voting if the applicant has studied with him/her in the past 2 years.

14. Monetary prizes will be paid via check/WeChat/Alipay within 30 days of the conclusion of the competition.

15. Prizes may be subject to U.S. income tax laws.

16. The competition reserves the right to broadcast/post any part of or the entire recording performance on our website/social media pages. All rights are reserved by the Artciál International Piano Competition. Contestants are not entitled to any fees or royalties.

17. All contestants are responsible for their own travel expenses for performances. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: All information on the competition website was correct when posted. However, the San Francisco International Piano Competition reserves the right to make changes if circumstances dictate. The schedule of the competition may be revised in order to adjust for the number of contestants and winner recital performers.
